ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Ramsey County on successfully opened their new Public Health Center at 1850 Beam Avenue in Maplewood, MN in June of 2026. MSP Commercial collaborated with Ramsey County, managing the 21,000 sf adaptive reuse project, which utilized much of the existing medical infrastructure, including structural and mechanical systems.
This reuse strategy accelerated delivery, significantly reduced costs and supported the County’s commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds while maintaining the clinic’s essential public health mission.
For nearly 70 years, the Ramsey County Public Health Clinic was located in downtown Saint Paul at 555 Cedar St. The new Public Health Center continues to provide the same services in Maplewood: sexual and reproductive health, immunization, Tuberculosis/TB, lab and county employee health services. The relocation to the northeast suburb on Maplewood was a strategic move to ensure the continuity of services and its long-term goals of meeting community health needs.
The clinic’s increased size and layout offers many benefits impacting patient care including more exam rooms, increased privacy and comfortable spaces for individuals and families. Key advantages of the suburban location include:
      • Accessible & Convenient – Located on a major corridor, the site has ample parking, a patient drop off area and nearby bus line service for easy access.

      • Highly Visible – Strong street presence and visibility make the clinic easy for patients and visitors to find.
      • Surrounded by Everyday Amenities – The clinic is in close to retail, restaurants and community resources including Maplewood Mall, multiple shopping centers, and the Maplewood Library.
Renovations included exterior updates such as landscaping, parking lot improvements, and siding repairs. The interior features refreshed exam rooms and lobby areas, reconfigured spaces for imaging services, and enhanced clinical features such as negative pressure rooms for infection control. Additional improvements include upgraded security with strategically placed cameras with key card access to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
